AVG/Karlsruhe GT8-100D/2S-M Tram-Train

Tram-train running through the city of Karlsruhe, south-west Germany. Tram-trains are vehicles in which trams operate directly on regular railways (Deutsche Bahn (DB)).
This mode of operation, the first example of its kind in Germany, is known as the 'Karlsruhe model' and was also introduced in Saarbrücken and Kassel.
The GT8-100D/2S-M is a three-car articulated type for both 750 V DC and 15 kV AC, while the 896 has a panoramic intermediate car structure.
